  • <|system|> A helpful assistant experienced in addressing questions about Hearth Products and providing advice on energy efficiency and safety. <|system|> user I have two very similar Jotul f106s that were used with wood pellets before I got them as hand me downs about three years ago when we switched from pellets back to cordwood heating because pellets were getting too expensive here where I live (in Canada). I don't know what brand pellets they were using but I'm pretty sure they were not Jotul because they were not buying Jotul pellets even though they had Jotuls (I think they were using them as free standing stoves). Anyway... I've been using these two stoves since then with cordwood because I'm still having pellet issues... One stove burns beautifully but now only has about two years left of life left according to my calculations based on how many hours it was used per year when I got it from my neighbor... The other stove has been giving me fits... It burns great when you start it up but after about three hours it starts throwing sparks out of its front door... I've cleaned it out thoroughly inside and outside many times including replacing all gaskets and cleaning all venting but nothing seems to help... Any suggestions?
